Mater Christi College Environment Group

Members:

Members of the Mater Christi College environment group are elected from each homeroom within the school, and for those who were not elected but show dedication and a willingness to be apart of the Environment group of their own accord can be granted honorary membership by the captains and Sister Mauren. Members share their duties on a rotating basis so that all duties are attended to each day and every member has the chance to participate in the activities and acquire different skills and knowledge. heres a list of the 2002 representatives. Representatives duties:

Environment Care:

1. Bird care:
  • At the beginning of each week the bird feeder is to be filled with seed (which is available at St Maureen’s office) and the bird bath also needs to be filled with clean water.
  • The birdfeeder and birdbath are to checked to see if they need refilling and refill them if they need it.
  • On Friday both the birdbath and birdfeeder are to be refilled so that there is enough to last the weekend.
2. Worm Farm:
  • Each Wednesday and Friday food for the worms can be collected form the canteen
  • The worms are to be feed on the left side on Wednesdays and water to be sprinkled from the watering can over the food.
  • The worms are to be feed on the right side on Fridays and water to be poured over it.
  • The container form the canteen is to be washed and returned to the canteen after the worms have been fead.
3. Paper Re-Cycling:
  • Paper is to be collected from the library and the careers room on Tuesdays.
  • Each Tuesday the Wheelie Bins are to be taken to the curb near D101.
  • When the Wheelie Bins have been emptied they need to be collected and return to their places.
4. Can Re-Cycling:
  • The six can recycling depot are to be collected and emptied on Fridays at lunch time or after school.
  • Disposable gloves are available for collection at Sister Maureen’s office.
  • The cans will need to be separated form the rubbish and put in the bale and the rubbish in the rubbish bins.
5. Bucket Duty:
  • The bucket depot are to be collected form sister Maureen’s office and placed near the courtyard and gym.
  • The buckets are put out at the beginning of lunch everyday and if are left out at the end of lunch, they are to be collected ane emptied and put back into the bin depot.
  • The bucket depots’ are then to be collected and put back in sister Maureen’s Office at the end of lunch.
